MIXED MEDIA

     I LIKE WORKING WITH ALL KINDS OF MATERIALS. MY EXPLORATION AND EXPERIMENTATION OF HOW DIFFERENT MEDIUMS WORK TOGETHER IS ONGOING. 

    THESE WORKS OF INSTALLATION ART COMBINED THE SENSES OF SIGHT AND TOUCH. EVERY PIECE HAD IT'S TITLE PRINTED IN BRAILLE TAGS ON THEM. MAKING THIS AN INTERACTIVE SHOW FOR EVERYONE INCLUDING THE BLIND.

    THE IDEA BEHIND THIS SHOW "IF YOU COULD SEE THROUGH A TREE" DEPICTS THE SIMILARITY AND/OR LIKENESSES OF PEOPLE AND TREES.

    EXHIBITION WAS AT PRATT INSTITUTE EAST HALL GALLERY APRIL 22ND-APRIL 27TH 2007.

ENVIRONMENTAL ART

     TROUGHOUT MY LIFE, WHEREVER I TRAVELED, I ALWAYS ADMIRED THE BEAUTY OF NATURE. AS A CHILD I MADE TINY HUTS OUT OF PINE NEEDLES AND REARRANGED PEBBLES IN DESIGNS.

    AT PRATT INSTITUTE "SATURDAY ART SCHOOL" I TOUGHT ENVIRONMENTAL ART TO STUDENTS IN 2005. WE SHARED IDEAS AND THOUGHTS ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF ENVIRONMENTAL ART BEING "ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY."

    I STILL MAKE WORKS OF ENVIRONMENTAL ART WHEREVER I AM. I ONLY HAVE PICTURES OF THESE WORKS BECAUSE THEY ARE "TEMPORARY" WORKS THAT ARE DESTROYED BY MOTHER NATURE OVER TIME.

ADVERTISING AND DESIGN

     WEATHER PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS ARE MADE FOR MYSELF OR OTHERS, I LOVE EXPERIMENTING WITH LAYOUT AND MIXING NEW WITH OLD TECHNOLOGIES.

    SOME WORKS ARE DONE BY HAND, OTHERS BY COMPUTER. SOME WORKS ARE COLLABORATIONS THROUGH D&C PRODUCTIONS. 

    THE DISPLAYS PICTURED ARE DONE BY ME FOR MY BUSINESS AND/OR OTHER PEOPLE AND COMPANIES.

INDUSTRIAL ART

     THE METALS THAT I LIKE TO WORK WITH VARY IN AGE AND DIMENSION. I PREFER TO USE AS MANY REPURPOSED OR UPCYCLED METAL PARTS AS POSSIBLE IN MY PIECES. DEPICTING THE MODERN AGE, MACHINE AGE, AND STEAMPUNK STYLES CAN TAKE OVER ONE YEAR JUST TO FIND THE RIGHT PARTS TO COMPLIMENT EACH OTHER. MOST MY PIECES ARE FUNCTIONAL.

PAINTING

     I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A PAINTER AND WON MANY ART AWARDS THROUGHOUT SCHOOL. MY FIRST COLLEGE COARSE AT CORNING COMMUNITY COLLEGE WITH RENOUNED ARTIST TOM GARNER INSPIRED ME TO CONTINUE PAINTING. I WAS ALWAYS COMFORTABLE WITH WATER COLORS BUT OILS ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIED ME. 

    I CONTINUED PAINTING AT PRATT INSTITUTE WITH AMAZING INSTRUCTORS SUCH AS ........ AND SHOED AND SOLD MY WORK IN MANY FINE GALLERIES IN NYC.

    I CONTINUE TO EXPLORE PAINTING TODAY AND NOW APPRECIATE WORKING WITH OIL BASED PAINT. I CONTINUE TO SHOW MY WORK CURRENTLY AND AS OFTEN AS POSSIBLE.

DRAWING

     MY DRAWING ARRANGES FROM SKETCHES TO SERIOUS FINISHED WORKS. I PREFER TO USE A RANGE OF LED PENCIL TO SKETCH, BUT I OCCASIONALLY DRAW WITH CHALK, INDIA INK, PEN, COLORED PENCIL, WATERCOLOR PENCIL, OIL PASTELS. 

SERIOUSLY..... I AM HAPPY EVEN DRAWING WITH CRAYONS OR MARKERS.

    FOR MOST ARTISTS THE DRAWING IS JUST THE FOUNDATION OF THE PAINTING OR PIECE. I MOSTLY DRAW WITH INTENT TO PAINT OVER IT. I CAN'T REALLY EXPLAIN IT BUT SIMPLY WHEN I START SKETCHING I CAN'T STOP. I START GOING INTO DETAIL AND AM SOMEHOW INSPIRED TO KEEP DRAWING THE SUBJECT. THEREFORE SOME SKETCHES DO NOT MAKE IT TO BE PAINTED OVER BECAUSE I JUST CAN'T PAINT OVER IT.

POTTERY & SCULPTURE

     I LOVE CLAY, I LOVE CLAY, I LOVE CLAY! THERE IS SOMETHING ABOUT WORKING WITH CLAY THAT YOU CANNOT EXPLAIN TO ANYONE THAT HAS NOT DONE IT. THE FEEL OF IT, THE BALANCING ACT AND THE INTENT OF FINAL VISION OF WORKS IS COMPLICATED.

    I ALWAYS HAVE AND WILL BE A POTTER. DO NOT EVER INVITE ME TO A STUDIO WITHOUT THE UNDERSTANDING THAT I WILL PROBABLY BE THERE AT LEAST A WEEK. MAYBE TWO.
